Dan Pierce created the concept for Cairn Leadership School from his experiences working with teams to help them achieve their fullest potential. Much of what is written about and taught in leadership is looking from a top-down structure of management. Although that is valuable, many companies are structured with work groups or teams where employees are making decisions to support the overall goal of the company. If those employees are not trained to make decisions within their teams then the cohesiveness of the team breaks down. Cairn’s mission is to help teams achieve the maximum benefit from working together while enjoying the process along the way.

It is proven that people connect with each other best when they are in a relaxed atmosphere. While many organizations have team building events in hotels and conference rooms, Cairn is unique because it exists solely outdoors.

Conference rooms can be sterile, unwelcoming, uncomfortable and close to the workplace providing the opportunity for attendees to become unengaged and slip back to work causing the teamwork experience to crumble. Cairn, on the other hand, is designed to be a retreat. It is a place where people are comfortable and away from a work environment. The natural surroundings create an atmosphere that encourages people to take risks and listen to others making it possible for them to be changed by the experience. We also provide choice accommodations including comfortable beds and on-site breakfast to allow your group the time it needs to connect after shared common experiences. Combined, these circumstances help develop trust and, in turn, will help your team better communicate with each other.
